Simon J Bush, Managing Director

Simon has over a decade of experience in government and corporate communications and is a specialist in government, stakeholder and media relations. Prior to establishing Bush-Consulting in 2003, Simon worked in the Federal Government as a policy adviser to a Cabinet Minister in the late 1990’s and from 2000-2003 held the position of Director of Corporate Communications and Public Affairs A/NZ for one of the world's largest technology and business consulting companies.

Through Bush-Consulting, Simon has advised many of the world's leading companies in developing and implementing their government relations and business strategies including assisting clients win multi-million dollar deals. Simon has particular expertise in the ICT, defence, human services, health and media and entertainment sectors.

Since 2003, Simon has also been the CEO of the Australian Visual Software Distributors Association (AVSDA), where he represents the $1.3 billion Australian home entertainment film industry guiding it through numerous major government regulatory, legislative and technology driven business challenges.

He has an Honours degree in Political Science from the Australian National University and the University of California, San Diego. Simon is a sought after media commentator on the government, ICT and media sectors, writes occasional opinion pieces on these sectors as well as speaking at conferences.

Francesca Zarrino, Account Manager

Francesca has over 20 years experience working in a number of industries including telecommunications, engineering, public relations & marketing and is a specialist in event management, public relations and business administration.

Francesca began her career working for one of Australia’s first and most successful telemarketing companies before moving to a direct client facing role at a boutique public relations consultancy where she managed international marketing forums and promotions on behalf of clients as well as providing PR support for clients such as Singapore Airlines and The Hong Kong & Macau Tourist Office. Her role also involved acting as escort and liaison officer for international groups of travel executives learning more about tourist attractions in Asia, predominantly Hong Kong and Macau.

For the past 13 years Francesca has managed the Secretariat and acted as Company Secretary for the Australian Visual Software Distributors Association (AVSDA), which represents the $1.3 billion Australian home entertainment film industry. Responsibilities include management of all Association business requirements from her duties as company secretary such as fulfilling ASIC requirements to membership liaison, collation of industry statistical data and co-ordination of regular forums and events for industry and government. In addition, Francesca has also managed and implemented major multi-million dollar consumer focused campaigns for the film sector.

Francesca is also the event and budget manager for the annual AVSDA Awards which showcases the marketing and performance achievements for industry and attracts up to 500 people each year with a budget of $300,000.

Candice Tobin, Consultant

Candice has spent most of her career working in the not-for-profit sector delivery government programs in the employment and disability services sectors in both NSW and the ACT. This practical experience gives her insight in both the way government policies are implemented on the ground and how they are complied with by both the NGOs and citizens.

Candice provides her research and NGO welfare background and expertise for clients as well as administrative support to the company.

She has a Psychology degree from the University of Sydney.
